It consists of a way to bring more practicality to those who need credit, but more than that it also brings more convenience and speed to the release of credit, making it perfect for emergencies.
This way, without leaving home you can apply for your loan and have the money in your account in a short time for what you need.
How does online lending work?
Online lending is easy and practical, in fact, this is precisely one of its objectives, to be an easily accessible modality for those who need resources. Companies today make loans available online on websites and platforms with just a few clicks. Which allows interested parties to request theirs without any headaches.
You will only need your smartphone, tablet, or notebook to access the institution's website or app to submit an online loan request. There are different financial institutions that currently offer this service to customers and you can choose the one that best suits you.
How to get a loan online?
It is very easy to get a loan online, but you need to be aware of the requirements established by each institution, which are different. In general, you must be over eighteen years old, have a bank account, valid email and telephone number. It is also essential that the interested party is up to date with their personal documents with the credit protection agencies and the Federal Revenue Service.
When establishing the value, the chosen institution will analyze all your data to determine whether or not the resources will be released. You will then receive the result whether or not you are eligible for the loan.
How to receive the money?
Once you are eligible for the loan, it is time to actually receive the money, right? As soon as you receive confirmation that you are eligible for the loan, you can sign the credit agreement. Loan signing is also done online. All through the bank or financial institution's platforms.
Within a few hours the money will be added to your account and will be available for use. You can use it however you want.
Documents for the loan
To take out the loan, you will need to present, among other documents, your ID, CPF, proof of residence, proof of income.
Even if you do not have proof of income, in the case of self-employed people, pensioners, retirees or similar people, it is also possible to request a loan, properly filling out the profession that would justify the fact that you do not have proof of income.
Before deciding, check these points.
- It works without internet. Manual note-taking apps work offline; those that sync with a database do not.
- Exporting your data. A good tool lets you export to a spreadsheet. If it doesn't, you're stuck with it.
- Connect to your bank. The automatic connection saves you from typing, but requires authorization via open finance. It's important to understand what is being shared.
- How the data is protected. Look for two-step authentication, biometric locking, and clear information about where your data is stored.
What no app can do for you
Every category has a limit, and knowing this one's limit saves time and money by avoiding those who promise more than what's available.
- Promises of quick money, guaranteed income, or loans without credit checks are signs of fraud, not a reliable source of funding.
- These apps are not a substitute for professional advice on complex debt, and no app has the power to renegotiate for you.
- They don't make your money grow on their own. They organize information; the decision and the outcome remain yours.
- Credit scores vary between credit bureaus and are not the only criterion a bank uses — no app 'increases your score' on its own.
Common questions
What if I lose my cell phone?
Enable biometric lock in the app and two-step authentication on your account. This way, your login credentials won't be transferred to your device.
Is the premium version worth paying for?
It makes sense for those who have multiple accounts and want automatic synchronization. For simple budgeting, the free version is sufficient.
Is the app safe to connect to my bank?
If the connection is through open finance with an authorized institution, the sharing is regulated and revocable. Never share your bank password within a third-party app.
Can I use it for free?
Manual expense tracking is usually free. Automatic synchronization and detailed reports are typically included in the paid plan.
Can I increase my score?
Your credit score improves with a history of on-time payments, updated registration information, and balanced credit use. No app can do this through shortcuts.
How to truly take advantage of it.
- Check what the app asks for during installation. Compare the permissions with what it actually does. It's the quickest test of trustworthiness.
- Check if it works offline. If the task is local but still requires a connection, your data is being sent to a server.
- Try the free version before you pay. Check if the feature you want is outside the free plan—it usually is.
- Review your consumption after one week. In the settings, view battery and data usage by app and restrict any that are high.
Common mistakes that are costly
- Ignore the fact that the free version limits exports or applies a watermark.
- Choosing based on average rating without reading recent negative reviews.
- Believing in a feature that the device's hardware does not support.
- Installing multiple applications that do the same thing, all running in the background.
Before installing: what's already on the device
It's worth opening the search in your phone's settings before installing: Android and iPhone already have several built-in functions, and the native app usually consumes less battery and doesn't ask for any permissions beyond what's necessary.
Monthly rate, annual rate, and CET (Total Effective Cost): the number that decides.
Every loan offer shows at least three percentages, and almost no one compares the correct one. What matters is the Total Effective Cost, or TEC.
The nominal interest rate only covers the interest. The CET (Total Effective Cost) includes everything that comes out of your pocket: interest, IOF (Tax on Financial Operations), registration fee, embedded insurance, and any other charges in the contract. Two offers with the same monthly rate can have very different CETs because one of them included insurance. Authorized institutions are required to inform the CET before contracting, and it must be expressed annually.
Another confusing detail: the monthly rate is not multiplied by twelve. Interest is compounded. A rate of 3% per month does not equal 36% per year, but rather something closer to 42.6%, because each month's interest is applied to the already increased balance. When the offer only shows the monthly percentage, the annual figure is always more daunting than it initially appears.
How to compare two offers in one minute.
- Write down the amount that is deposited into your account for each one.
- Multiply the installment amount by the number of installments.
- Subtract the first from the second. That's the cost in reais (Brazilian currency).
- Compare the annual CETs.
If a loan offer has a smaller monthly payment but a higher total cost, it simply extended the repayment period. A low monthly payment is not synonymous with a cheap loan.
How much does the total change when the deadline is extended?
Extending the repayment period is the most common way to make the installment fit within the budget, and it's also the most expensive. The mechanism is simple: interest accrues on the outstanding balance, and a balance that takes longer to be amortized earns more interest.
To give you an idea of the scale, without mentioning any institution: on a debt of R$ 5,000 at 3% per month, paying in 12 installments costs around R$ 1,030 in interest. The same debt in 24 installments exceeds R$ 2,000. In 36 installments, it surpasses R$ 3,100 — more than 60% of the borrowed amount, just in interest. The installment is halved; the cost more than triples.
The practical conclusion: choose the shortest term that your income comfortably allows, not the lowest installment amount offered by the simulator. And if you have money left over along the way, use it for early repayment. According to Central Bank regulations, early repayment of installments requires a proportional discount on interest that has not yet accrued—the consumer has this right, but needs to request early repayment and choose whether it reduces the term or the installment amount. Reducing the term saves more money.
Types of courses: what each one requires and what it charges.
- Unsecured personal loan. The easiest to obtain and the most expensive. Since the bank has nothing to lose in case of default, it includes that risk in the rate.
- Consigned. The installment is deducted directly from the salary or benefit. Therefore, the rate is much lower, and there is a regulated ceiling for civil servants, retirees, and pensioners. On the other hand, it automatically compromises income, and cancellation is difficult.
- With vehicle or property as collateral. Lower rates and longer terms. The risk is obvious: delays can cost you the asset.
- FGTS (Brazilian employee severance fund) advance payment or refund. It's not exactly a loan taken against an uncertain future, but it still accrues interest and reduces money that was already yours.
- Revolving credit card and overdraft facility. The most expensive options on the market. If the debt is already there, the goal of any new loan should be to replace that debt with a cheaper one, not to add another one.
It's also worth learning about credit portability: you can transfer an existing debt to another institution that offers better conditions, and the current institution has the chance to match the offer. This is a right provided for in Central Bank regulations and usually results in a discount without needing to borrow new money.
No legitimate loan charges a fee for disbursement.
This is the most common online credit scam, and it thrives because the victim is already in a hurry. The script is always the same: immediate approval without consultation, without analysis, regardless of history — and, when it comes time to release the loan, a registration fee, insurance, a "security deposit," or an upfront IOF (tax on financial transactions) that needs to be paid via instant transfer.
Rules that eliminate risk:
- No payment is made before receiving the credit. Legitimate fees are deducted from the released amount or included in the installments.
- Check if the institution is authorized by the Central Bank. The list is public and can be consulted on the Central Bank's website.
- Transferring funds to an individual is a sign of fraud. The financial institution receives payment into an account with its own CNPJ (Brazilian tax ID).
- Be wary of approvals made without any consultation. Credit analysis exists precisely because lenders want to know who you are.
- Do not send documents and selfies via messaging app. This material, derived from an advertisement, facilitates the opening of accounts in the names of third parties.
If the payment has already been made, file a police report and immediately contact the originating bank: the special Pix refund mechanism has a short timeframe and only works with prompt reporting.
Rights that remain valid after signing
- Repentance in seven days. The Consumer Protection Code guarantees the right to cancel contracts made outside of a physical establishment—via the internet, by phone, or through an app—within seven days, with a refund of the amount paid.
- Copy of the contract. You are entitled to receive the complete contract, including the APR, number of installments, and all itemized fees.
- Refuse tied selling. Making credit conditional on the purchase of insurance, a capitalization bond, or a service package is a prohibited practice. If insurance was included without your clear consent, you can request cancellation and a refund.
- Dispute an unfair discount. A loan with payroll deduction that appears on your payslip without your consent should be disputed with both the paying agency and the lending institution, and the deducted money will be refunded.
- Renegotiate. Delaying payments doesn't close doors. Contacting the institution before accumulating months of arrears usually results in better terms than waiting for a bill to arrive.
