How to choose without wasting money
Before subscribing, it's worth answering four questions. What do you want to watch (the title defines the service, not the other way around)? How much do you intend to spend per month? How many people will use the same account, and on how many screens at the same time? And do you watch on home Wi-Fi or on the go, needing to download beforehand?
A simple strategy saves a lot of money: instead of keeping three or four subscriptions unused all year, subscribe to one at a time, see what interests you in that catalog, and cancel before the next billing cycle. All services allow cancellation through the app itself, and access continues until the end of the paid period.
Free is possible — with ads.
It's possible to watch movies for free in a completely legal way, as long as you accept the commercial breaks. Offline and on TV: what can be done?
The offline download feature is a function of the official apps themselves. You open the title, tap the down arrow icon, and the file is saved securely within the app—it's not a video that can be copied or shared. Most downloads expire after a few days, or around 48 hours after you start watching; simply reconnect to the internet to renew. If the download button doesn't appear, it's because that title doesn't have download rights or your plan doesn't include the feature.
To watch on television, there are three options. With Chromecast or Google TV, simply tap the cast icon within the app and choose the device: the video will play on the TV and your phone will become the remote. Screen mirroring works on many Android devices, but it consumes more battery and some services block it. And, when the Wi-Fi is poor, a USB-C to HDMI adapter provides a stable solution.

- Image quality included. Full HD and 4K are usually included in higher-end plans. Signing up for the basic plan expecting 4K is the most common source of frustration.
What these apps don't do
It's important to know what's beyond the reach of this category—that's what avoids frustration and, most importantly, prevents falling for those who promise the impossible.
- Live content, especially sports, is almost never included in free plans.
- Subtitles and dubbing in Portuguese vary by title and are not always included with the release.
- Quality depends on your connection: no app delivers 4K on an unstable internet connection.
- They don't provide paid content from other services. Any app that promises access to the catalog of various platforms for free is either piracy or a scam.

Can I download movies forever?
